Members and customers will once again be able to attend gym and swimming sessions at OneRen venues without pre-booking from March 1st.
The need for appointments is being lifted from the close of business on February 28th, in line with the latest Scottish Government Covid-19 guidelines.
OneRen, the charity which runs gyms, swimming pools and leisure centres across the region, has contacted all members to advise them of the change - also encouraging them to continue to follow all public health advice, including taking regular lateral flow tests.
Mark Tokeley, OneRen’s Head of Leisure and Community Services, said: “We know that many of our members and customers have been looking to the return of walk-in sessions. We hope that the added flexibility this brings will allow them to enjoy the full flexibility that being part of OneRen brings.
This is another positive step in the recovery of our services from the coronavirus pandemic and in supporting the improved health and wellbeing of our region’s residents.”
As was the case pre-pandemic, there will be no time limits on visits to the gym or in the pool. The only restrictions at pools will be when they are at capacity, which - as previously - the on-site team will deal with on a case-by-case basis.
Pre-booking has been necessary at gyms and pools since the Covid-19 lockdowns to manage social distancing and contact tracing work as part of the measures taken to help reduce the risks that coronavirus poses for customers, colleagues and the wider community.
All visitors are being asked to scan a QR code for NHS Test and Protect as they arrive at any venue. These will be found at reception desks.
