The Visitor Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring an exceptional visitor experience and the effective operational management of the museum’s public spaces. The role leads front-of-house services, oversees venue hire operations, and ensures that all visitors, clients, and partners receive a high-quality, safe, and welcoming experience. By managing staff, coordinating daily operations, and optimising venue use, the Visitor Operations Manager supports the museum’s public engagement goals while contributing to commercial income generation and organisational sustainability.

The Visitor Operations Supervisor supports the effective day-to-day operation of visitor services and venue management, ensuring that all visitors receive a high-quality, safe, and engaging experience. The role contributes to the smooth running of the venue by assisting with staff supervision, event delivery, operational planning, and customer service excellence. The role also supports staff training, operational planning, and continuous improvement to enhance the overall visitor experience and maximise the venue’s reputation and community impact. Working closely with the Visitor Operations Manager, the postholder helps maintain high standards of presentation, oversees front-of-house activity, supports income-generation activities, and ensures compliance with operational policies and health and safety requirements. The role also helps drive continuous improvement, supports team development, and contributes to creating a welcoming environment that enhances reputation and encourages repeat visitation.

The Visitor Operations Assistant supports the effective daily operation of the museum by providing high-quality visitor service, assisting with the care and presentation of collections, and maintaining safe, welcoming, and engaging public spaces. The role ensures that all visitors have a positive and informative experience by offering guidance, answering enquiries, supporting educational activities, and upholding museum policies. The Visitor Operations Assistant also contributes to exhibit preparation, supporting the activities in the Museum shop and administrative tasks that enable the smooth running of museum programmes and events.
