Artist Opportunity: Colouring Renfrewshire 2

OneRen’s Arts Team, Project Search Renfrewshire and Glasgow Clyde college are creating a colouring book which will follow on from the popular Colouring Renfrewshire book which launched in autumn 2020.

Eight local artists contributed to bringing together a book of 10 original line drawings, designed to colour and reminisce about our favourite scenes and events in Renfrewshire.

This time we would like to invite artists to contribute to bringing together a book of 10 drawings which not only remind us of the architectural heritage of Renfrewshire, but also some of the amazing creative talent which has emerged from the area over the years.  Our book will be a ‘A Celebration of Renfrewshire’.

If you are you an artist who lives, practices or works in Renfrewshire, then we would be interested in receiving a submission from you.

Role Description

The successful artists will be chosen by students from Glasgow Clyde College, who are part of Renfrewshire’s Project Search scheme.  Project Search is a work experience programme for young adults with learning disabilities and autism.  Colouring Renfrewshire 2 will be put together by the creative team of young people, as part of their work experience.  They will choose the artists, decide on the layout and take control of printing and marketing of the finished product.

Images we would particularly like to be in the book would include some of the buildings and services that are currently under redevelopment.  We would like to see Paisley Town Hall, Paisley Museum and Paisley Arts Centre in the book.  We would also like to see some of our local artistic heroes, like John Byrne and Gerry Rafferty.  We are open to suggestions for the other images.

Drawing Specification:

  • All drawings must be line drawing with an attention to detail, so that there is lots to colour and capture the imagination.
  • The finished drawing will fit in an A4 size page in portrait.
  • All drawings should be submitted in black and white.
  • Description detailing where or what the drawing is off

How to apply

Please submit via email:

  • a description of the drawing you would enter, (please do not submit finished drawings at this stage)
  • a short paragraph of no more than 100 words to describe why you have chosen that particular image.
  • a copy of your current CV or list of latest artworks, plus 3 examples of recent work.

Fee

If you are successful, you will be paid £200 per drawing and description, based on the concept that each drawing could take 4 hours work.

How to Apply

All submissions should be sent to Pamela Givan, Outreach Worker at OneRen via email: pamela.givan@renfrewshire.gov.uk.

Submissions should be sent in by 5pm, Monday 7th March 2022. Submissions after this date may not be accepted.
