Craig Dalziel, Bikeability Scotland Co-ordinator for Renfrewshire Leisure was Highly Commended in The Annual Achievement Award presented by Bikeability Scotland.
Craig was awarded in recognition of his long-term and ongoing dedication to the programme which resulted in record delivery figures for Level 2 on-road cycle training in Renfrewshire.
Since Bikeability Scotland began in 2010, more than 350,000 pupils have received cycle training in Scotland. In the 2020/21 school year, more than 40,000 pupils received training, which is very encouraging, given the disruption to schools and their teaching caused by the pandemic.
Craig Dalziel, Bikeability Scotland Co-ordinator said: “I am surprised but delighted to have been recognised by Cycling Scotland for this award in what has been an extremely challenging year. I would like to thank the RL team and Bikeability staff for their continued support and also thank the schools for embracing Bikeabilty in the way they have. I very much enjoy delivering Bikeability and I am looking forward to another busy year”
Renfrewshire Leisure Chief Executive Victoria Hollows said: "Congratulations to Craig. The whole team is incredibly proud of the work that he does - and of his award success. It's richly deserved.
"Our community can be rightly proud of him too. Through his dedication, children are not only learning skills which keep them safe on our roads, but they are developing a love of cycling that will hopefully stay with them throughout their lives, encouraging them to stay on their bikes not just for exercise, but active travel too. That's good for our environment.
"Craig's work helps keep people safer, healthier and happier. Our Bikeability scheme in Renfrewshire is going from strength to strength."
