James McGrath: Library Support Coordinator

James McGrath's career at OneRen began in 1991 as a Library Assistant. Over the years, he has held various roles, including Library Supervisor, Senior Library Supervisor, and Library Team Supervisor, before taking on his current position as Library Support Coordinator. This impressive trajectory showcases his commitment to the development and success of library services throughout Renfrewshire.

What Does James’ Role Involve?

In his role as Library Support Coordinator, James oversees the daily operations of OneRen’s network of twelve libraries, ensuring a consistent and high-quality service for all visitors. His responsibilities include supervising frontline library services and managing the Library Support Services team. He also provides essential support for staff training and deployment to maintain seamless service delivery.

James’ tasks extend beyond supervision; he plays a key role in reader development activities, stock selection, and liaising with suppliers to ensure that libraries provide diverse and relevant resources. A significant part of his job is guiding and supporting a team of library staff, deploying them effectively to meet the community’s needs and managing absences to maintain the standard of service patrons expect.

James’ journey is a testament to the opportunities for growth within OneRen. Starting as a Library Assistant, he progressed through various roles, each offering new challenges and responsibilities.
