The Summer of Sport Investment is a Scottish Government initiative, administered by sportscotland as the national governing body for sport, with funding distributed across all 32 local authorities to increase opportunities for children and young people to take part in sport and physical activity.
In Renfrewshire, the programme will focus on:
• Increasing participation in priority groups and communities
• Expanding entry-level and recreational opportunities
• Strengthening pathways into clubs and sustained activity
• Supporting inclusive provision for young people facing barriers to participation
Renfrewshire Active Schools will coordinate delivery using insight from the Renfrewshire annual Pupil Activity Survey. This data-led approach ensures activities reflect what young people want to take part in, where gaps exist, and which groups need targeted support.
This allows us to:
• Provide a wider and more relevant range of sports and activities
• Direct investment where it will have the greatest impact
• Reduce barriers and improve access for all young people
• Support a more equitable offer across schools and communities
By aligning national investment with local data, the programme will deliver a more inclusive and responsive offer, helping more young people get active and stay active.
