Join authors Lucy Ribchester and Mairi Kidd for a workshop exploring the role of historical fiction in bringing Scotland’s forgotten women into the light. Official historical narratives frequently focus on the deeds of men, from the battle of Stirling Bridge to the Enlightenment, ignoring the less visible acts of rebellion, strength and wisdom with which women have always contributed to the growth of Scotland. Using a range of historical sources, from burgh records to ledgers, diaries, paintings, folk tales and ballads, participants will gain practical tools and methods to help them tell their own stories. Please note participants will not be expected to share their work and no writing experience is required – beginners welcome!
