Two writing legends celebrate their collective half-century of publishing in a special joint anniversary event hosted by fellow author and Fun-Lovin’ Crime Writers bandmate, Val McDermid. In Quite Ugly One Evening, Christopher Brookmyre brings us a zeitgesty locked-room mystery that sees the return of rogue journalist Jack Parlabane thirty years after his first appearance. Doug Johnstone gears up for a hat-trick of books in his twentieth year, including two of his early novels republished with new introductions by the writers joining him on stage. Tombstoning features a man returning to Arbroath to face the cliff-tumbling ghosts of his past, whilst The Ossians follows the hapless antics of a Scottish indie band on the road.
