We can’t get enough of mysterious tales set on dark Scottish islands in recent years, and in this event we’ll hear from two authors who have written spine-tingling stories of suspicious happenings, both based in the Outer Hebrides. In Graeme Macrae Burnet’s Benbecula, a man from Liniclate re-examines a sordid moment in his family’s history, when his younger brother Angus murdered their father, mother, and aunt. In Chris Barkley’s The Man on the Endless Stair, the murder of a revered author on a remote island leaves protagonist Euan responsible for finishing his greatest masterpiece. In this event, both authors chat to Director of Push the Boat Our Festival Emma Collins about their shared fascination with the antihero.
