In Katalina Watt’s debut novel, Saltswept, the first in an epic duology inspired by Southeast Asian mythology, a ragtag crew band together to search for treasure, and in doing so save the magic of the world. Following on from her haunting debut, The Grief Nurse, Angie Spoto’s The Bone Diver is inspired by the shapeshifting legend of the selkies and follows the daughter of a struggling seal-hunting family who is offered an impossible bargain by the Lady of the elusive local Manor.
