15:00-15:45: Book Launch, Readings & Exhibition
Hear new work from Light Between the Lines, a collection of poetry, prose, and visual art that results from a year-long artist residency at STAR Project in Paisley, and an experimental exploration of life within an often-overlooked and underserved community. Contributors have taken STAR Project’s motto - "we are fearless, we are playful, we are here" - on a creative journey, finding light in troubled times and strength in shared experience. A selection of original artworks, including blackout poetry, collage, sculpture and STAR Project’s community-built Poe-Tree, will be exhibited as part of the event.
15:45-17:00: Recycled Words - A Blackout Poetry Workshop
For those wishing to stay for the second part of this event, join STAR Project Artist in Residence Britta Benson, alongside contributors from Light Between the Lines, for a gentle and welcoming introduction to blackout poetry. Using repurposed materials, newspaper articles, book pages, letters and junk mail, participants are invited to create visual poems that reveal new truths by redacting the old. Each piece becomes a deeply personal expression of creativity, agency and reclaimed voice.
