Hear from two of Scotland’s most exciting new voices in Gaelic literature, as they read from and discuss their bilingual collections in conversation with Scotland’s Makar Pàdraig MacAoidh (Peter MacKay).
Robbie MacLeòid is a Gaelic writer and musician, with family connections to Barra. His writing has been published in multiple languages and countries. He holds a Scottish Book Trust's New Writer's Award for Poetry. His first poetry pamphlet, Am Measg Luaithrean, Beò, was released in 2025, and was a winner of a Gaelic Literature Award. These provocative and bilingual poems break form and language to interrogate Scotland, sensuality, and sin.
Ceitidh Campbell is a teacher, singer and poet. She was the first Gaelic Ambassador at the Scottish Poetry Library and she is the Gaelic editor for Pushing out the Boat magazine. Dàn nam Ban is her first collection. It provides a voice to women’s stories across generations. The main themes include folklore, family history, motherhood and the impact of the past on the present.
Tha Robbie MacLeòid na bhàrd agus sgrìobhaiche, le ceanglaichean làidir ri Barraigh. Tha e foillsichte ann an iomadach àite agus gu h-eadar-nàiseanta. Choisinn e Duais nan Sgrìobhadairean Ùra bhon Scottish Book Trust tàilleabh a bhàrdachd. Nochd a chiad cruinneachadh de bhàrdachd, Am Measg Luaithrean, Beò, ann an 2025, às dèidh dha Duais Litreachais a chosnadh mar làmh-sgrìobhainn.
’S e tidsear, seinneadair agus bàrd a th’ ann an Ceitidh Chaimbeul. B’ ise a’ chiad Tosgaire Gàidhlig aig Leabharlann Bhàrdachd na h-Alba, agus tha i na deasaiche Gàidhlig airson an iris Pushing out the Boat. ’S e Dàn nam Ban a’ chiad chruinneachadh aice. Tha e a’ toirt guth do sgeulachdan bhoireannaich thar nan ginealaichean. Am measg nam prìomh chuspairean tha beul-aithris, eachdraidh teaghlaich, màthaireachd, agus buaidh na h-ama a dh’fhalbh air an latha an-diugh.
