Author, journalist and broadcaster Sally Magnusson joins us for an event as part of our ‘Reclaiming History’s Heroines’ series to celebrate her latest novel, The Shapeshifter’s Daughter. A fantastical blend of myth and modern history, this story brings to life the Norse tale of Hel, queen of the underworld and goddess of death who was brutally cast out of mythical Asgard. As Hel searches for solace in the human world, she encounters the plight of a modern-day Orkney woman, who has returned to the islands to find courage in the face of bad news. Join Sally as she speaks about intertwining past and present and the enduring draw of myth in her work with chairperson Ellie Updale.
