Scottish National Jazz Orchestra presents Acoustic Duke
Directed by Calum Gourlay
One of the greatest composers in jazz, Duke Ellington continues to inspire the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. With music spanning his fifty years as a bandleader, performed with vitality, swing, and meticulous attention to detail, this concert showcases this titan’s depth and diversity. With an opening set by the Scottish National Youth Jazz Orchestra, reinvigorating Ellington classics and rarities, the SNJO continues its celebration of the Duke following its internationally acclaimed album In the Spirit of Duke. Embracing the natural acoustics of the Hall, both orchestras honour Ellington's masterpieces with the warmth, balance and dynamic range that lie at the heart of the big band tradition
