We Will Hear Angels
A poignant
and uplifting celebration
of the power of sad music - “a subtle and intelligent
combination
of words, movement and music” (The Stage). It
is
performed by
a group
of five actor-musicians and includes music by Hank Williams, Orange Juice, Etta James and J.S.Bach among others.
Inspired by the final scene of Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya
and drawing on a range of influences, including the films
Wings of Desire and Rear Window
, and short stories by Katherine Mansfield, We Will Hear
The Angels continues Magnetic North’s exploration of storytelling through music.
The production was hugely popular with audiences and critics when it premiered at the Fruitmarket in Edinburgh in January 2025. They loved its intimate, immersive staging and uplifting journey from darkness to light.
